Is Shop Controller easy to set up?

A:

Absolutely. Shop Controller is so easy to get up and running that people with little or no computer experience can do it the first time, without breaking a sweat! We have provided a “Quick Start” document that when used will greatly expedite your setup.

 

Q:

What are the system requirements for Shop Controller?


A:

Minimum requirements:
Intel Pentium CPU 1.50Ghz
1 Gig RAM (2 Gig RAM if you are using Vista OS)
1 Gig free hard disk space
Inkjet or laser printer
Microsoft Windows 2000/NT/XP-Pro/Vista Operating System

Recommended requirements:
Intel Pentium CPU 2.00 GHz or greater
2 Gig RAM or greater
1 Gig free hard disk space
Laser printer
Internal Zip drive/USB flash drive
Microsoft Windows 2000/NT/XP-Pro/Vista Operating System

 

 

Q:

Do I need the CD-ROM to install the software?


A:

You can use the either the CD-ROM or download the software from our web site, or ask us to do it for you. Visit www.shopcontroller.com for more information

Can I buy Shop Controller on a payment plan?


A:

Q:

Is Shop Controller sold in modules?


A:

No, Shop Controller was designed from the ground up to be an all-in-one solution. However, the program Is sold as multi-level software. You can start off with the” Lite” level and jump to any level greater at any time.  No need to re-install your software.  ACS can turn on the level of ShopController that you purchase remotely.

Q:

Does Shop Controller contain an accounting program?


A:

Shop Controller does general bookkeeping and interfaces with QuickBooks version 2004 or greater for all you’re accounting needs.

 

Q:

I need something added to the program. Will you modify it to meet my specific needs?


A:

We are always eager to hear from our customers, and we value your feedback. When several customers request a specific modification or addition to Shop Controller, we will consider it for future versions. Additionally, we are now capable of adding custom modules at the customer's request. Please call for Quotes.

 

Q:

What type of media do the invoices, work orders and reports print on?


A:

All invoices and reports can be printed on plain paper. Preprinted invoices are also available if your company uses a special letterhead or logo on its invoices. Call for a Quote on your custom invoice or report.

 

Q:

What types of marketing will Shop Controller do?


A:

Our software will do marketing reminders using labels, cards and letters.

 

Q:

Can Shop Controller be networked?


A:

Yes. Depending upon the version of Shop Controller you purchased, the Network Module may already be included.  The Network Module can be purchased at any time.

 

Q:

Does the software interface with any accounting software?


A:

Yes, Shop Controller has been upgraded to the latest development integration that is available from QuickBooks.

 

Q:

Can I use Shop Controller in Canada?

A:

Shop Controller can be used in Canada, and the software is able to process provincial taxes.

Technical Questions for Computer Pros

Q:

What kind of back-end database does Shop Controller use?

A:

Shop Controller uses an Access 2003 database to store and manage information.

 

Q:

What language or development environment is Shop Controller written in?

A:

Shop Controller was written in Microsoft Visual Studio's Visual Basic 6.0.

 

Q:

I have an AMD microprocessor in my computer(s). Will Shop Controller work with this kind of chip?

A:

Shop Controller works fine on computers with AMD processors. However we recommend Intel Pentium processors for all customers planning to install Shop Controller

 

Q:

Can I manually edit the Shop Controller database?

A:

While it is possible to edit Shop Controller's database in Microsoft Access2003, this is not Recommended as Shop Controller stores information in many different tables, and by manually changing any of the data, you could cause more problems than you fix. If you suspect the database is corrupted somehow, use the Data Repair utility included with Shop Controller, or contact technical support.
